80x60 cm ~ Painting, Acrylic, Aerosol, Pastel, Spray paint
"Stellar Dispersion" is my reflection of how I perceive the energy of Ecuador: dense, rich, and incredibly luminous. I worked with acrylic paste and spray to build a palpable texture that shifts with the viewer's every step. My goal wasn't to capture a color, but the very light itself, which, reflecting off the multitude of three-dimensional spheres, creates a lively, shimmering play of shadow and brilliance. This is a contemporary take on a timeless material. Did you know that in art history, gold was considered the "tears of the Sun" by the Incas and was extensively used in the Byzantine Empire to create the "gold ground" on icons, symbolizing divine, transcendent light? My piece continues this ancient tradition, yet translates it into the language of abstract expressionism. Every "cluster" here is a captured moment, inviting the viewer into a meditative dialogue.
